Belgium: In Bruges
Despite the fact that the movie is not at all family friendly, Bruges turned out to be an excellent, kid-friendly place to visit. The baby girl was only 3 months old when we visited Bruges. However, it didn’t hold us back at all. Everyone was super-friendly and there was so much to do (and eat) that we easily filled a couple days. We visited Bruges in August 2018. We drove in from Germany and stayed at a lovely AirBnB just outside the main city. Our AirBnB was nicknamed the Jolly Roger. The boys were immediately enamored by the bunk bed, which featured a slide. We were immediately enamored of the…

Mystical Marrakech
Kids in Marrakech? It's possible with good planning. We stayed in the Medina, shopped the souqs, saw the major sites, and rode camels!

Family-friendly Rabat
#Party of Six- Morocco may not be the first place you think about taking your kids, but trust me – it’s incredibly family-friendly. Our boys had already been to Marrakesh, but Rabat offered a much slower pace, less stress, and more room for our toddler to, well…. toddle. We rocked the Kasbah, saw the ruins at Chellah, and checked out the Rabat Zoo. We only had two full days in Rabat; there’s much more to see if you spend a week! One of my absolute favorite things about Morocco is how wonderfully everyone treats your children. If you’ve never been to Morocco or another similar culture, you should probably be…

Finland: Christmas for Thanksgiving
Everything about Rovaniemi, Finland, is magical. It’s the only word for it. This short three-day trip was worth every penny for us. When you step off the plane and enter the airport to collect your bags, there is a Santa sled and eight tiny reindeer overhead. Luckily, we were there over Thanksgiving break in 2017. I was just a few months pregnant with our baby girl – big enough to not fit in the snow pants I had just bought, but luckily not big enough to not fit into my husband’s snow pants. My poor husband ended up wearing two pairs of sweatpants for the rest of the trip to…

Bali Part 2: Bohemian Bali
PartyofSix: After leaving the Beach Bali portion of our August 2019 trip to Bali, we used Bali Honest Driver to get around for the rest of our trip. (You can also find them on Facebook.) Our driver picked us up from Besakih and we traveled to Ubud, stopping along the way to visit the Batuan temple, Tegenungan waterfall, and the famous Monkey Forest. The temple was a fairly new experience for our kids – the adults (both male and female) are required to wear a sarong and my husband made the kids wear pants, as per the recommendations he read on the internet. I don’t think they would have turned…

Bali Part 1: Beach Bali
PartyofSix: Bali was supposed to be our inaugural #FourSixTwelve trip (see Our Story for more information) in August of 2019. We choose to go in August because it’s part of the shoulder season (just before or after the highest tourism season) in Bali; we love the shoulder seasons. We were traveling from Frankfurt, so we were lucky enough to manage a six-hour flight to Dubai, then an eight-hour flight on to Bali. The kids mostly slept on the way to Dubai and used their tablets or Nintendo DSs on the second flight. That being said, lest you think we had it easy, one of them woke up on our descent…

Welcome to Four Six World Trips
Welcome to our Four Six World Trips blog. It was born out of our desire to adventure with our four children, taking them to each of the continents except Antarctica. It’s not that we’re ruling that one out, it’s just really expensive and they’ll probably have to do that one on their own. We initially planned to accomplish this in a single year (our #FourSixTwelve plan) but we got interrupted by COVID. Still, Four Six World Trips is pretty cool on its own. Our posts will mostly talk about our experiences, whether abroad or a bit closer to our home in the U.S. on the Georgia/South Carolina border. Some trips…
